from Uchronia, released March 11, 2018
Sarmistha Talukdar is an artist, musician, and scientist from India. She often tries to express discontent with what is traditional and conventional, invites the uncomfortable, and reflects on the socio-political issues of feminism, intersectionality, and non-conformity. Through her art and music she seeks to empathically connect with her audience, while trying to make peace between logic and emotion, traditional and modern, the East and the West. She performs solo as Tavishi, and improvises in Womajich Dialyseiz (, an experimental improv collective made up of women, femmes and gender non-conforming people. Her personal aim as an artist is to amalgamate science, art and music in a form that engages the audience, compels them towards action instead of apathy, as well as provides ephemeral sanctuaries for catharsis, reminiscence and dreams.
