about

Identifiable collection of matter contains two tracks that belong to an electroacoustic music process that I explored for several years, especially during improvised and semi-improvised live sessions.
The technique in itself is very simple : one or very few sound sources, processed live, usually with a computer and virtual effects, sometimes, together with hardware effects.
The original session of Identifiable collection of matter one with mostly performed with one cymbal, two microphones and one computer (and my breath at some point) in Leipzig, Germany, at SeaNaps Festival 2018. The recorded fragments have been re-assembled and edited later in Berlin, Germany.
The original session of Identifiable collection of matter two has been recorded and partly composed in Slemani (Sulaymaniyah), and Erbil (Hewler), Iraqi Kurdistan, during and for the Space21 Festival in 2018. Due to the locations, configurations and acoustic live intervention in one of the spaces, the live versions where at some point different than this recording but the piece is still highly recognisable. It has been re-edited in Berlin, Germany. The original sound source was recorded in some of the mountains around Slemani, using numerous flat stones and fossils that cover the area. For one of the live sessions in the citadel of Erbil, pebbles were also used without any amplification, in the old hammam (public bath) built in 1775 by Qassim Agha Abdullah, as well as some field recordings. Some of the field recordings were played through a speaker hidden in a pit that lies in the centre of the hammam.
The other concerts happened in an empty building that belongs to the Amna Suraka Museum (but not inside the museum itself as I felt it would not have been appropriate to perform there due to the context and content).
